POSITION SUMMARY: 

We are currently looking for a budding superstar developer, with a keen eye for design to participate in our internship program. This opportunity is for a 3–6-month Web Design & Development Internship. In this position, you will collaborate with our team to solve problems and build innovative web solutions. You will contribute to a wide range of projects and will participate in all stages of design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance. Candidates should be current students or recent graduates looking for practical training and experience in web application development and/or web design. 

The Web Development Intern will work closely with the Web Content Manager and NEW HEIGHTS BMC sales staff on a variety of digital projects. The intern will help conceptualize and assist with managing the organization’s website content, as well as format and design electronic newsletters for subscribing members. This position helps to extend the resources of NEW HEIGHTS BMC in order to better assist and meet the needs of our members and the clients that we serve. 

We work with companies spanning a diverse set of industries: Restaurant, Financial Services, Entertainment, Real Estate, Technology, Lifestyle, Health & Fitness, Retail, Government, Advocacy, Non-Profit, B2B, Legal, Creative, etc.… 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES): 

Most projects will involve customizing websites, and landing pages, often incorporating video and/or audio elements. Candidates must have a range of creativity, perspective and flexibility in design concepts and deliverables, from entertainment/interactive to corporate communications/brand identity. Attention to detail and the ability to work as a team member are also essential. 

Applicant should have a sensible approach to design while keeping in mind cross browser support. Expected duties may include: 

       ▪ Designing and developing art and graphic solutions to support web-based projects 

       ▪ Weaving rich media techniques into creative solutions 

       ▪ Uncovering emerging technologies and latest web trends 

       ▪ Providing strong knowledge of web design/usability principles 

       ▪ Collaborating on projects with our marketing department, production staff, and content writers 

       ▪ Assisting with developing elements in design strategy and visual concepts for internet communications 

       ▪ Supporting the maintenance and updating for the back-end of NHBMC public website 

       ▪ Publishing approved content on NHBMC various social media platforms 

       ▪ Publishing and distributing electronic newsletters using Constant Contact 

       ▪ Production of limited copywriting and editing of website and newsletter content 

       ▪ Working closely with the NHBMC staff to develop web content, electronic newsletters, and social media platforms 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

       ▪ Working knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript 

       ▪ Proven experience in Flash, Joomla, WordPress and/or Drupal is helpful, but not required 

       ▪ Superior graphic design skills, evidenced by an outstanding portfolio of work 

       ▪ Proficiency in technical web development tools (WordPress, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) 

       ▪ Firm grasp of the back-end and digital space 

       ▪ Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop 

       ▪ Proficiency in in Microsoft Office and social media platforms 

       ▪ Familiarity with Constant Contact and Mac platform a plus 

       ▪ Knowledge of HTML or other digital coding 

       ▪ Impeccable grammatical, spelling, and proofreading abilities 

       ▪ Effective communicator – both written and oral 

       ▪ Ability to work independently, as well as in partnership with a team 

       ▪ Ability to define and work to deadlines 

       ▪ Detail-oriented, self-directed, and willing to take initiative 

       ▪ Respect and maintain the confidentiality and integrity of NEW HEIGHTS BMC 

       ▪ Complies with and adheres to all of NEW HEIGHTS BMC policies and procedures 


SCHEDULE: 6-12 months, depending on amount of hours (Fall/Spring Semester, with the possibility of extending to Summer) (Hours are flexible and can be arranged according to a student’s academic/work schedule) 

REMUNERATION: 

Paid Internship with advancement opportunities. Academic credit also available. 

Huge growth potential, with high probability of a full-time or part-time position opportunity upon internship completion. 

Flexible schedule of 3-5 days/week.
