POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Contracts Intern will support the Contracts function at NEW HEIGHTS BMC. The Contracts Department operates in a fast paced, dynamic environment in which new, innovative, and leading-edge approaches to solving problems are highly encouraged. An internship with Contracts will allow for broad exposure to both senior leadership and Enterprise-wide initiatives as well as learning and using NEW HEIGHTS BMC’s Tools and resources. This position requires an understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices pertaining to the field of business and will be working on critical business enablers such as sourcing, negotiations, global business, technology, and compliance. The ideal candidate should have strong academic credentials and experience in working in a teamwork environment, having not only academic, but also interpersonal skills to help optimize our teams. Additionally, the candidate should possess an inquisitive nature and a strong desire to learn real world applications to complement their academic experience. 

As a Contracts Intern, you will provide assistance and support to Contract Administrators and Contract Managers with proposal preparation, contract review, and acknowledgments, change management, compliance, and special assignments. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES): 

       ▪ Collect and follow up on customer contracts. 

       ▪ Review of customer solicitations, request for Proposals, contracts, modifications (follow-on and new business), kick-off proposal preparation activities & support proposal deliverables 

       ▪ Familiarize/analyze unique contract requirements, special provisions, terms & conditions 

       ▪ Provide guidance to the program team on the requirements of the contract (SOW, Data Deliverables, IP rights, reporting requirements, schedule, etc.) flow down 

       ▪ Draft customer correspondence and program letters 

       ▪ Prepare product, program, and services classifications 

       ▪ Review Purchase Orders (PO), contracts, and modifications for compliance to contract requirements and negotiated pricing, delivery, and terms & identify differences 

       ▪ Prepare acknowledgment and rejection of Purchase Orders/Contracts 

       ▪ Draft and support the execution of Non-Disclosure Agreements 

       ▪ Support the closure of Contracts Standard Work 

       ▪ Support Contract/PO Closeouts 

       ▪ Propose a continuous improvement idea during the internship 

       ▪ Perform other special assignments 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

        ▪ Minimum grade point average of 3.0 or above 

        ▪ Critical thinking ability 

        ▪ Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, with little direction and supervision 

        ▪ Takes ownership of tasks assigned on projects 

        ▪ Results-oriented 

        ▪ Strong analytical skills

EDUCATION: Candidate must be in/entering their Sophomore, Junior or Senior year and actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following disciplines: Business Administration, Contract Administration, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, or Accounting. 

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE: 

        ▪ Ability to prioritize and manage work to adhere to project timelines in a fast-paced environment 

        ▪ Highly skilled in data analysis and the ability to create flow charts, and also create pivot tables in Excel 

        ▪ Strong interpersonal and communications skills 

        ▪ Ability to work independently 

        ▪ Innovative 

        ▪ Problem solving ability and strong written/verbal communications skills 

        ▪ Ability to make sound ethical decisions 

        ▪ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook 


SCHEDULE: 6-12 months, depending on amount of hours (Fall/Spring Semester, with the possibility of extending to Summer) (Hours are flexible and can be arranged according to a student’s academic/work schedule) 

REMUNERATION: Paid Internship. Academic credit also available. 

Possible advancement opportunities available.
