POSITION SUMMARY: 

NEW HEIGHTS Business Marketing Consultants, LLC (NEW HEIGHTS BMC) is currently seeking a part-time year-round Accounting/Finance Intern that shares our corporate vision, mission, and values. We are looking for an ambitious team player that has a desire to impact business profitability through internal financial reporting, forecasting, and process improvement initiatives. 

The Accounting/Finance Intern position will be responsible with supervision for preparing, filing and payment of non-income tax base returns for U.S. sales/use and value-added type taxes. The Intern position will have the opportunity to learn immensely about NEW HEIGHTS BMC's business by interacting directly with some of our clients, as well as other departments within the company. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES): 

       ▪ Participate in preparing, filing, and processing non-income tax base returns for sales and value added taxes 

       ▪ Assist in the preparation of monthly reports of e-discovery revenue, labor utilization metrics, and labor forecasting 

       ▪ Prepare and analyze standard accounting and finance reports for management 

       ▪ File department copies of reports/checks/W-9s/ W-8BEN and W-8BEN-Es in digital file 

       ▪ Process checks requests for payment to vendors 

       ▪ Assist with issuing 1099s annually. 

       ▪ Assist with consolidating financial forecasts and explaining associated variances to the budget 

       ▪ Support cost analysts with accounts receivable and billing issues 

       ▪ Prepare release of claims documents and obtain proper signature approvals 

       ▪ Support proposal pricing and associated profitability analysis 

       ▪ Create journal entries for revenue recognition and cost reclassifications. 

       ▪ Learn and work with enterprise and tax software systems 

       ▪ Work with sales, and other departments towards resolution of unforeseen tax issues 

       ▪ Update and maintain tax-exempt certificates 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

        ▪ Pursuing a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting, with at least one year of school completed 

        ▪ Strong GPA (3.0 or higher) 

        ▪ Previous relevant internship or part-time work experience is a plus 

        ▪ Proactive with a can-do attitude and the ability to adapt in a fast-changing environment 

        ▪ Analytical approach to solving problems 

        ▪ Competence with the MS Office suite, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills 

        ▪ Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail 


SCHEDULE: 6-12 months, depending on amount of hours (Fall/Spring Semester, with the possibility of extending to Summer) 

(Hours are flexible and can be arranged according to a student’s academic/work schedule) 

REMUNERATION: 

Paid Internship with advancement opportunities. Academic credit also available. 

Huge growth potential, with high probability of a full-time or part-time position opportunity upon internship completion. 

Flexible schedule of 2-3 days/week.
