JOB ID: EMP982022-32

POSITION SUMMARY:

NEW HEIGHTS BMC MEDIA guides brands, businesses, agencies and start-ups through the concept and development of user-friendly advertising & marketing products, promotions, and strategies that highlight the uniqueness of each brand’s proposition.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM – SITE SUPERVISOR

The Site Supervisor acts as the NHBMC Internship Program host when the organization entertains one, or multiple participating program interns. There will likely be multiple site supervisors, especially since interns are placed in different departments, as well as on occasion within some client businesses.

We will hold Internship Program Orientations. The Site Supervisor will facilitate the orientation, bringing our interns on board with an orientation that covers essential information about policies, procedures, responsibilities, and day-to-day operations, as well as discuss dress code, expectations, and provide answers to frequently asked questions. It’s helpful to provide this information in a physical or digital handbook, and/or in a special section of our website.

The Site Supervisor ensures that interns have clearly defined roles and responsibilities, as well as an understanding of how our company operates, to set them up for success. To ensure that everyone is on the same page, The Site Supervisor will also conduct an orientation and training for managers and mentors who will work with the interns.

It’s essential to have an Internship Coordinator and Site Supervisor(s). Collectively, these individuals will be responsible for ensuring the internship program runs smoothly and they are tasked with keeping the program focused on criteria and outcomes.

This will include working with the interns to develop goals, having regular progress meetings, encouraging the intern’s professional growth, and offering career guidance. The Site Supervisors will also evaluate how much our client businesses are benefiting from the interns’ professional services contribution – making adjustments as necessary.

Another component of the internship program’s Site Supervisors role is following each intern’s developmental plan. This plan is similar to a job description you might create for employees. It outlines tasks and projects the intern will complete, specific desired outcomes, meetings to attend, staff members to spend time with, opportunities for learning and networking, etc. This plan is developed prior to posting all internship positions.

We will include elements of the plans in the job descriptions, indicating to potential interns that we’ve thoroughly planned the program and will give them a well-rounded, engaging, and beneficial experience.
