POSITION SUMMARY: 

NEW HEIGHTS BMC MEDIA guides brands, businesses, agencies and start-ups through the concept and development of user-friendly advertising & marketing products, promotions, and strategies that highlight the uniqueness of each brand’s proposition.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

The Graphic Designer is expected to play an active hands-on role in all key areas of creative design, image development, and the design and production of all print, online and digital advertising & marketing products, materials, and resources.

The Graphic Designer also produces graphic sketches, designs, and copy layouts for print and online content. Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, and arranges layout based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and aesthetic design concepts. Uses knowledge of current graphic design software to produce graphic art and visual materials for promotions, advertisements, films, packaging, and informative and instructional material through a variety of media outlets such as websites and CD-ROMs. Generates and manipulates graphic images, animations, sound, text, and video into consolidated and seamless multimedia programs. Must remain abreast of technological advances in the field and be able to identify areas of use in the organization.

Picture research is a specialist area within the Design department. The Graphic Designer is also expected to assist in finding existing images from galleries, museums and other sources, clear rights for their usage, and play an active hands-on role in key projects; assisting the Art Director in turning innovative thinking…into inspired creation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

The initial staff is expected to assume multiple roles while undertaking multiple responsibilities. The Graphic Designer will oversee or assist with a number of major projects, as well as manage anticipated duties which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Data acquisition, data processing, data extraction and data entry
  • Type setting
  • Logo design
  • Producing sales brochures
  • Media kit creation assistance
  • Letterhead design
  • Participating in brainstorming concepts (for upcoming projects & marketing strategies)
  • eNewsletter design
  • Updating existing collateral material
  • Image scanning
  • Maintaining art files
  • Basic design duties (relative to experience)
  • Photo editing
  • Photo manipulation
  • Marketing materials
  • Product design
  • Labeling & packaging design
  • Posters
  • CD and DVD covers
  • Any other creative tasks that may arise
